Postdoc (3 years) within the Experimental Meteorology Group at IMKTRO

The successful candidate will be part of the new working group “Experimental Meteorology” led by Prof. Dr. Raphaela Vogel at KIT’s Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research Troposphere Research (IMKTRO). Our group aims to improve our fundamental understanding of cloud and convective processes by combining in-situ and remote sensing observations, high-resolution simulations, and conceptual models. A current focus lies in creating observational bench-marks for critical atmospheric processes like rain evaporation, downdrafts and cold pools.

The institute is seeking dedicated and qualified early-career researchers with a focus on atmospheric sciences (meteorology, physics) for various projects within a Helmholtz Association research program. Qualified university graduates have the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. We offer an excellent research environment to Ph.D. candidates who are highly motivated to pursue a career in research and teaching. The work involves the development and application of new high-resolution regional models for weather forecasting, atmospheric composition, and climate change. In observational meteorology, opportunities arise through the Institute’s participation in international measurement projects using the KITcube facility.
